5 out of 5 stars Excellent - a MUST read for aware gay men and their circle   August 19, 2009

A really excellent book. A very easy read but at the same time very analytical but always corresponded to contemporary examples so not just intellectual waffle.

Felt that it helped me understand myself (and friends) a lot more

Be great if there was a follow up with more of a self help / how to slant.

Highly highly recommended!

5 out of 5 stars Thought provoking and an essential read if you're interested in a serious gay relationship   April 15, 2010

One of the first books I read after my 20 year, 'I thought we'd be together forever' relationship broke down. Dr Downs spends quite some time building the case to explain why so many gay men behave the way they do, before going on to provide some great suggestions on how to approach the whole dating game and long-term commitments. I wish I'd read this many years ago to get a better understanding of why so many gay relationships start off on the wrong track completely. Buy this book - I cannot recommend it more highly.

reccomended by a friend and I read over a few days . This author definitely knows what he is talking about when he delves into the psyche of gay men.The relationship issues, the obsession with the body beautiful, the baggage we bring from childhood and the closet. For me it stirred up a fair amount of sediment and that is no bad thing.
